To Enos Park residents and friends
This Tuesday, July 9th, 7 p.m., Calvin Pitts and members of the Urban Leagues Young Male Program will provide us an update of the work being done on the Police Officers home in Enos Park.
We’ll have a slide presentation showing the “before and after” progress being made toward an early fall completion. We also want to celebrate the graduation of nine of the trainees who have participated in the South Town Construction Training program.
I want to thank all of you who joined us for the 1st Annual Rock the Block in Enos Park. We had approximately 250 people participate in the Grand Opening of Susie Q’s, the dedication of the Sculpture Garden, and the open houses of Old Neighborhood Neighbor.
Special thanks to Mayor Houston for extending an opening welcome to our guest.
The Art Association is hosting a Paint the Streets Party Saturday, July 20th on Jefferson Street between 4th and 7th Street. You can get a 6’x6′ square section of the street to paint for $30. A great way to help the SAA with its fundraising efforts to expand its facilities. Event goes from 2 to 10 p.m. Check out their website for more details http://www.springfieldart.org/
If you haven’t seen the Enos Park neighborhood garden you’re missing a real treat. Twenty-nine families are working on plots bearing a lot of produce. They are gather every Monday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, July 27th, 10 a.m. Glenda from the U of I Extension Office will be back for a second time to prepare some food direct from the garden. She’ll be providing do-able recipes and a bit of food to boot.
Look forward to seeing you Tuesday night. Remember we are meeting at the 3rd Presbyterian Church at Bergen and North 7th Street
