The three-bedroom, two-bath home at 1149 N. Seventh St. was once on the city’s demolition list. The 1880s home was donated to In His Hands last year March by the Enos Park Neighborhood Improvement Association, and In His Hands volunteers renovated the home to sell it to buy land in Haiti to build an orphan village. The village, when completed, will house about 100 orphans in the impoverished island nation and give them the opportunity to attend school and learn a trade.

Michelle Higginbotham, president of the Enos Park Neighborhood Improvement Association, said the house was part of a package of six JSP Investments Inc. properties the association acquired after they went into foreclosure in 2011.

“We ended up having to demolish three of them, but three were salvageable, including this one,” she said…

Friday’s open house is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. during Neighborhood Night In, an event started last year by the Enos Park group.

The association holds Neighborhood Night In after work the fourth Friday of each month as a way for neighbors to get to know each other. New homeowners take turns hosting the event.

“It’s a way for our new neighbors to get to know each other, and since many of our new homeowners have extensively renovated their houses, it also gives everyone a chance to see what they’ve done,” Higginbotham said.

1149 N. 7th St.

We would like to invite you to our Open House Dedication to celebrate this wonderful home renovation resulting in neighborhood transformation that will help orphans in Haiti.

It is because of the gracious volunteers, organizations and businesses that made this renovation of an 1880’s home that was once on the demolition list a reality. Now, the home has been restored to a beautiful 3 bedroom/2 bathroom home where all proceeds from the sale of the home will be applied towards the purchase of land in Haiti where an orphan village is in the process of being built.

Get a sneak previous of this beautiful house before it goes on the market! It’s a bargain at $79,000.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Barton, Project Coordinator
